Let's Talk Tights

Updated: Nov 24, 2019

Let’s talk tights. It has now come to the time of year that I untangle my 80 denier tights from the bottom of my underwear drawer. Tights and I have had a love and hate relationship; I love the look of black opaque tights but I hate shopping for tights. Tights to me are like underwear; necessary but hard to get excited about. I could never find tights to comfortably fit on my long, somewhat lamppost-like, frame. I'd spend time hoicking them back up as they slowly started to sag throughout the day - not a good look. Cue Snag tights ('Snag'). I was introduced to Snag by their Chief Brand Officer; Rachel. Snag started in Edinburgh in 2018 with the aim of providing comfortable tights that fit. Did you know that traditionally all tights have been the same width and only vary by leg length? This was news to me when Rachel told me. Snag tights have changed all that. They believe that anyone that wants to wear tights should be able to have tights that genuinely fit and are comfortable, regardless of size, shape, age or gender.

Another huge plus about Snag is that they are founded by a woman (the amazing Brie Read) and are environmentally responsible. They produce eco-friendly tights with no plastic in their packaging. The Snag website feels inclusive. The models are of different shapes, sizes, ages and skin tones. I was also pleased to see that 'skin tone' tights doesn’t mean just one type of skin tone. For years I've struggled to find nude tights that match my skin tone.

Rachel kindly gifted me a pair of 80 denier black tights and I was super excited to try them out. I knew a good road-test would be wearing them for a full day at work. I was intrigued to find out how the tights would fare. The result was positive. These tights are great. They fit better than any other tights I have worn. They have soft seams and a comfortable waistband and I'm happy to report that there was no tights sagging! As Snag offer multiple sizes which take into account your height and dress size you are more likely to find your perfect fit. The tights retail for around £7 (depending on the style) which I think is reasonable given the comfort and fit. I have paid nearly double that for tights that didn’t fit half as well.

For sizing, comfort, price and brand ethos Snag get a big thumbs up from me. Wearing comfortable tights is one less thing for us to think about so we can concentrate on other more important things. I'm yet to see how the tights wear over time, so I'll keep you posted on that. I'm so happy I was introduced to the brand and even happier to share it with you guys that haven't already heard of them. I think I'm finally getting excited about tights!
